Misty Boston Beach Session | Ling Family
A few weeks ago I shared a throwback session from my time in Virginia. Because we were stationed there while my husband was in the Coast Guard, I now have friends that are stationed all over the country! It’s a great excuse to vacation to new places! It’s also a great time to photograph new places as well, like for this misty Boston beach session!
I’m quite sad that I no longer have any of my original blog posts (they were lost in a transfer about 3 websites ago) so you’ll only recognize this face if you’ve been here a while. The woman in these photos is my beautiful, resilient, strong-headed, caring, creative, and all around amazing best friend Leann. Our husbands were at the same station, so that’s how we met! While I had already been in Virginia for a year, she was coming to live with her (then) boyfriend, Kevin. She needed a place to stay while they were out to sea for a few months. She had some small reservations the first time we met, but we soon became fast friends, and absolutely inseparable.
Last November, my husband and I decided to head out to Boston to spend Thanksgiving with them, and Kevin’s daughter. Leann and I often have grandiose ideas for styled sessions. I’m not sure I could ever pick a favorite from all the sessions we’ve had together, but I think this one absolutely nailed the vibe we were going for! The morning was frigid, and peppered with freezing rain. We all bundled up as best we could and bared the weather for a few minutes to get these downright dreamy photos!
The first time I photographed Kevin nearly a decade ago is still one of my favorite stories to tell. Guys rarely enjoy having their photos taken. Kevin was no different. Joking around and not really taking the session seriously – but that is my jam! We had so much fun, he kept asking Leann when he’d get to see the photos. He was so excited to see them! It’s a point of pride for me that I have a knack for winning the guys over!
This is one of my favorites from this session. The wave hit just perfectly!
