JW Marriott Wedding Reception | Katie & Ryan
A few months ago, I shared Katie & Ryan’s wedding ceremony on the blog. Fast forward a year from their ceremony, and that brings us to today’s post with their JW Marriott wedding reception! They originally wanted to keep their date in 2020, so we had their intimate ceremony, with plans to celebrate later in 2021. At the time, we of course didn’t know what the world would bring. Luckily, we were able to celebrate as planned, but Katie & Ryan were still thrown an extra surprise at their reception! Scroll through to find out!
Katie wore the same dress she did at their ceremony, because why not! When your dress is this pretty, you’ll find any excuse to wear it as often as possible!
Oh, and did I ever mention it had pockets?!
Since they weren’t doing a ceremony, but still wanted to honor their wedding party, the couple opted for beautiful corsages instead of bouquets for the bridesmaids!
The JW Marriott has so many awesome photo spots throughout the lobby and conference areas!
It was FREEZING cold and windy (as evidenced by the beard on the left) but I made them brave it outside for about 5 minutes.
Well, the wedding party at least. A week before the party, Katie emailed me about when would be the best time to do pictures on the HELIPAD?! WHAT?! It was actually surprisingly not as windy up there!
It was the middle of November, but Michigan’s breathtaking fall colors were still showing off!
The breeze did start to get to Katie at one point, so I did my best…pterodactyl impression (??) to try to block it! Thanks to Heather for capturing this behind the scenes shot proving that I am willing to do what it takes for my couples!!
We headed back inside for some family portraits, in front of the staircase and it’s iconic crystal panels!
Ryan started out with a welcome speech….
…and an announcement that brought Katie to tears…
…as well as everyone else in the room…
…because Katie & Ryan are expecting!! What a way to really celebrate!!
One of my favorite DJs, DJ Ty, kept the floor hopping all night long! The guests were ready to party and he did not disappoint!
