I have said it time and time again that one of my favorite things about a wedding is how YOU you can make it! I once saw a piece of advice that I thought was a great idea. Think of planning a birthday party for you and your significant other. What elements would you include to celebrate them? Would you have a certain meal? What would your entertainment be? You can absolutely add those ideas when planning a wedding! But if you’re stuck on ideas, here are a few of my favorite fun & unique ways to add personality to your wedding that I’ve seen throughout the years!
I am SO excited to share more from this fun & flirty Grand Haven engagement session! I shared a bunch already over on my Instagram, but honestly, I’m just head over heels about their entire gallery. Jessica contacted me back in the summer. Her and Chad are getting married in Missouri, but got engaged at Grand Haven, so they wanted photos there! We decided to start downtown and then head over to the beach. The evening could not have been more perfect, and these two showed up looking like Solid 10’s! They added more time on to their session to allow for two locations, and it really gave me a chance to try some things I had never done before! Scroll through to take a look!
There are a lot of great reasons to have engagement photos taken, but my favorite is so you can print them in a reception guest book, like Liz & Colin did! I include engagement sessions in all of my packages, because it helps us to get to know each other. I get to see how the two of you fit together, and you get to decide if you can handle my corny dad jokes. It’s a great excuse to get dressed up a little and spend quality time together! But then…what do you do with your images? You might print a couple and display them around your house, but soon you’ll replace them with wedding photos. No one ever really gets to see them. That’s why I love these reception guest books! It shows off how cute you are, and you have a handy keepsake from your guests!
I am skipping ahead a month for my 2020 recaps for today’s St. Robert’s and Noto’s intimate wedding with Katie & Ryan! As we were all optimistic about 2020 being “our year”, these two were no different. But of course, things changed, and their wedding shifted to this small ceremony celebration. As we continue to navigate these – dare I say it – unprecedented times, I want my couples to be completely assured that I will work with them in whatever way necessary! For Katie & Ryan, we decided to split up their package. That way if they decided to not have a larger celebration later, no one would have gotten shorted. Luckily, we get to celebrate downtown this weekend! So in order to prepare, here is the cause of their celebration!
Today’s Fenn Valley Vineyards engagement session is a throwback to 2017, when I first moved back to Michigan! I attended some local bridal shows and had the opportunity to meet a ton of amazing couples! Troy & Rachel were no exception. They already had engagement photos taken, but I feel it’s so important for the same photographer to do both the engagement and wedding photos. This way, we all get to know each other better! I get to see how you interact as a couple, and you get to see how I work! By the time the wedding rolls around, we’ve gotten past the awkward “I don’t know what to do with my hands” poses, and you are able to focus on just relaxing and enjoying your day! That’s why every wedding package already includes an engagement session!
