My husband once described my photos as “where it’s all about the bride and the groom is just a prop.” But let’s face it, put a group of guys together dressed in sharp suits, it’s pretty hard to ignore! A few weeks ago I shared my list of items for brides to remember on the morning of their wedding, and this week, it’s the guys’ turn! It won’t be as heavy, but here is my Groom details checklist!
Back in November, I got a random Instagram message from a florist that I had never worked with before, asking me to take part in a styled session. I was super skeptical because a) I didn’t know this florist and b) the session was like 2 days away! Is this a scam? Am I going to get murdered?? Well, I took a chance and agreed to participate in the Holiday Glam styled session with Alex Nazar Floral and Brittany from 1945 Event Co. I am SO glad I took that chance, because then Brittany asked me to take part in today’s blog post, for the Wedding Day magazine Spring/Summer 2021 cover shoot!!
Today’s blog post is about Maggie & Jake’s Fetzer Center March wedding on the campus of Western Michigan University! The last wedding I posted, I mentioned how it was the last “normal” wedding. Maggie & Jake got married on March 13, 2020 – also known as Pi Day! It was at this point, we were cautiously proceeding with no clue what was about to happen. The campus already had closed down because there was a couple of cases, but we were still on to get these two married, thank goodness!
I know the title of today’s post is laid out the same way as all of my other ones, but for this 40th anniversary session, it was a little weird to type out “Larry & Teresa” – because this anniversary session is of my parents! We (try to) have Sunday dinner together with my immediate family every week, and the first weekend in May, it happened to coincide with their anniversary, so my mom called me up and wanted to do something a little special! Of course I had to jump on board!
Today’s throwback post features what may have been the most perfect engagement session ever! I remember I was just getting over a cold (remember when we weren’t glared at for having the sniffles?!) so my energy was probably pretty low – until I arrived at the WK Kellogg Manor House! The sun was shining just right, and the grounds to this venue was STUNNING. The Manor House sits on the highest point over looking Gull Lake, and is immaculately landscaped all the way down to the water! At the bottom is a perfect spot for wedding ceremonies! And then Jenny and Spencer showed up looking adorable and ready to go!!
It’s no secret that wedding days have a tendency to be hectic. This is why one of my main goals as your photographer is to help you reduce your stress so you can relax and enjoy the day. There is also a lot of details that go into your day that you don’t want to forget! So when you book with me, I send over an in-depth wedding planning guide with lots of tips and tricks so you can make sure you’re not forgetting anything the morning of! One of those tips is a list of details to remember on the wedding day, like today’s bridal details checklist!
