Lifestyle Maternity & Newborn Session | The Gibbie Family
Since rebranding to Jessie Silva, I have shifted my focus entirely to weddings in the Grand Rapids area and beyond. But every once in a while, I’ll still do extra sessions for a select few special past clients! Today’s lifestyle maternity & newborn session is one of those special clients! In October of 2019, my cousin Katie was at the perfect point in her first pregnancy for maternity photos! Her and her husband live out in the country, so their backyard was the perfect spot on this cloudy day!

Glam Grand Rapids Public Museum Wedding | Ryan & Sarah
Today’s post is a throwback to 2017 for Ryan & Sarah’s glam Grand Rapids Public Museum wedding! They were such a sweet couple to work with, and their families were just as incredible! From the bridesmaids’ gorgeous gold sequined dresses, to the carousel photos at the end of the night, to the beautiful weather we had all day, their wedding was perfect from start to finish!

Whether you’re having a 300 person ballroom wedding or an intimate elopement, there can be a lot of moving parts and plans when it comes to weddings! You want to trust that your photographer is ready to capture whatever happens. Experience and good intuition are definitely required tools to have as a wedding photographer, but I am still only one person. So for today’s post, here are 5 reasons why two photographers are always included in my wedding packages!

Misty Boston Beach Session | Ling Family
Last November, my husband and I decided to head out to Boston to spend Thanksgiving with our friends in Boston. Leann and I often have grandiose ideas for styled sessions. I’m not sure I could ever pick a favorite from all the sessions we’ve had together, but I think this one absolutely nailed the vibe we were going for! The morning was frigid, and peppered with freezing rain. We all bundled up as best we could and bared the weather for a few minutes to get these downright dreamy photos!

Backyard Wildflower Summer Session | Jen and Scott
Today’s blog post is a throwback to a few years ago for this backyard wildflower summer session. After my husband got out of the Coast Guard, we were so excited to move back home to the Grand Rapids area! We found a perfect little home near where I grew up, and very close to my family. We settled in and were happy to be Michiganders. Not long after we moved, we got a knock on the door one evening, and it was this adorable couple – with a freaking homemade PIE to welcome us to the neighborhood! In the seven years and multiple moves my husband and I endured, not ONCE were we welcomed like Jen & Scott welcomed us! We became fast friends and spent many evenings around the bonfire. They had recently gotten engaged, and since we lived out in the country, our backyards were the perfect spot for a photo session!

Top 5 Favorite Grand Rapids Wedding Venues
Over the past decade I have had the opportunity to shoot at any and all types of wedding venues in multiple states, from country clubs to farms, from ballrooms to beaches, from backyards to parks. While they each have their pros and cons, at the end of the day there exists the perfect venue to fit the vision of your wedding day! Since permanently relocating to Michigan, I’ve hardly shot at the same location twice, so I’ve really gotten to see the wide variety of venues we have to offer! In today’s post, I want to go over (in no particular order) my top 5 favorite Grand Rapids wedding venues I’ve experienced!
