Happy New Year! Another year as a Grand Rapids, Michigan wedding photographer is in the books! Truthfully, I am still recovering a bit from the hit of Covid, and I’m not quite where I’d like to be. Despite that, though, 2022 was full of absolutely dream sessions! Take a look at some of the highlights!
First off, I started the year out right by FINALLY getting the opportunity to photograph a bounce house at this super fun bounce house styled wedding at Venue3Two!
2022 seemed to be the last bit of Covid reschedules and receptions celebrating elopements. Ben & Taylor’s reception at the Bissell Tree House at John Ball Zoo was one of the first “normal” receptions I’d been to since 2019, and let me tell you… There was a moment when everyone was just mingling around, laughing, talking, having a great time. It finally *felt* normal again! I was photographing a wedding! It felt like I was home 💜
Another reception celebration, this time at the Paddock Place! Kevin & Imari ended up celebrating their wedding on the same weekend as the Kentucky Derby, so the encouraged everyone to dress accordingly!
Gina and Zach wanted to have their engagement photos done in Saugatuck, so we had to head to Oval Beach! The dramatic clouds really showed up for us!
Sam & Tara had the most perfect wedding day! 😻 If you don’t believe me, check out their full blog post here!
We head down to Indianapolis every year to celebrate my husband’s birthday with his family. It was the perfect time for photos of my brother-in-law and his girlfriend’s bump!!
The sun really showed off for us at Matt & Elissa’s engagement session near the Beal Gardens at MSU!
Another bucket list session was this incredible styled wedding at the Grand Rapids Public Museum that was three years in the making! Check out more on the blog post here!
Adam & Ani had an absolutely classic wedding at the brand new greenhouse venue Ivy House in Saugatuck!
We happened to be back in Indianapolis shortly after my nephew was born, so obviously I had to take a few photos!
Kayla & Will are the sweetest couple ever, and it broke my heart that I had to have someone associate shoot for me while I was out sick with Covid! But their day was full of sunshine, smiles, and one heck of a party!
I loved the edgy looks that Olivia and Carl brought to their engagement session at Grand Ravines!
Speaking of edgy, Violet brought the heat to their super cool downtown Grand Rapids senior session!
I wish I could share more from Jessica’s jaw-dropping boudoir session at Old Souls Studio, but the rest are too hot to handle! 🥵🔥
I’m pretty sure Zach & Gina’s wedding at Frederik Meijer Gardens was straight out of a magazine!!
Another year of capturing this precious family, featuring this mama who means so much to me! You can read why on the blog post here!
Sarah & Adam had a pop-up wedding downtown, and their attire was an absolute vibe!!
Spot the cameo!
I was SO excited when Mike and Christina wanted to have their engagement session at Frederik Meijer Gardens! They killed it!
In a rare occurrence, I left Mike and Christina’s session and high-tailed it to Kruse Park in Muskegon for Anessa and Jimmy’s session!
For the recap it’s usually only one photo per event but uh, do you blame me?! Anessa and Jimmy brought their Most Best Boy in the World, Murdock!
Rounding out a year with about a dozen family events, we officially welcomed Kelsey into our family, at her and Devon’s wedding at Venue3Two. I cried, I laughed, and I danced actual holes in the bottom of my shoes!
Sonia & Atul celebrated their marriage with a reception at the Kellogg Center at MSU!
This spot is just a placeholder until I can share images, but I was asked to shoot the cover of the 2023 WeddingDay Magazine’s annual Look Book! If you follow me on social media, you may have seen some behind the scenes of the shoot!
After more than a decade of friendship, somehow I had never taken photos of our best friends from Indianapolis! They were up to visit for a weekend, and it was one of the prettiest days of Fall, so I had to take advantage, and give them a session right in my own backyard!
After Fall, winter really showed up with that massive snowstorm in November!
Sarah wanted winter photos with her boyfriend Nate and their dog Nova, so we immediately scheduled once the snow started falling! Also, if you are in need of a fantastic pet-sitter, check out Whiskers and Willows! Sarah does an awesome job with my two high-maintenance cats!
Thanks for following along with me on another year of being a Grand Rapids, Michigan wedding photographer! Your resolutions for the new year – first, follow me on Facebook and Instagram if you don’t already. Second, if you know anyone who just got engaged, send them my way! Third and most important, have the best year ever!!
Have fun!
