It’s no secret that wedding days have a tendency to be hectic. This is why one of my main goals as your photographer is to help you reduce your stress so you can relax and enjoy the day. Weddings have a lot of moving parts and people, so it’s important to make sure everyone is on the same timeline. I go over this extensively as early as our first consultation! There is also a lot of details that go into your day that you don’t want to forget! So when you book with me, I send over an in-depth wedding planning guide with lots of tips and tricks so you can make sure you’re not forgetting anything the morning of! One of those tips is a list of details to remember on the wedding day, like today’s bridal details checklist! (Don’t worry guys, you’ll get your own list in another post!)
Whether you’re getting ready at a church, your house, or a hotel room, it’s always a great idea to have all of your details gathered together in one place, so when I arrive I can get started while you’re hanging out or finishing hair and make-up! So what are the must-have items to get all of your details captured?
Since it always seems the getting ready room is crowded with all the bridesmaids running around, it’s a good idea hang the dress in another area or room if possible. (A great tip if you’re getting ready in a hotel: book a suite so you have an area that is already clean to get dressed in!) Don’t forget to also bring a nice hanger instead of the plastic one it comes on. Don’t worry about finding a pretty place to hang it though – I have a magic trick for that!
It’s a great idea to keep all of the other accessories in one box or bag near the dress. Your jewelry and shoes will all go on AFTER the dress, so I’ll make sure to stage it before you put your dress on! If you have a signature or special perfume you’re wearing for the day, this is also a great addition.
If the two of you are getting ready in different venues, it’s an easy thought to have each of you hold the other’s rings. However, for photo purposes (and to make sure nothing gets forgotten), I’ll always request that all of the rings are available to photograph in the morning. If I am unable to photograph the rings during the getting ready process, I usually have to make time during the reception, while you’re enjoying your dinner. But I HATE interrupting you and then asking you to remove those rings you just had a whole ceremony to put on!!
Did you write your own vows in a special notebook? Maybe you have the family Bible that your officiant will be using. Will you be wearing a special ring from your grandmother? Are you super excited about your custom invitations or programs? All of these sentimental details really add personal touches to your day! It’s also a great idea to have your flowers delivered to your getting ready venue as well, to add a pop of color with your details!
