So this is a little embarrassing. I keep saying I’m going to catch up on blogging but the last time I posted an actual wedding was almost a year ago!! I’ll be looking back through my 2019 year, starting with Katy & Bobby’s St. Mary Catholic Church & Ballroom at Mckay wedding!
It was a cold and dreary day, but that didn’t stop Katy & Bobby from having the time of their lives! This wedding was such a dream for me, because not only do I love a good Catholic wedding, it was at the stunning Ballroom at Mckay right downtown Grand Rapids! Add on the bride and groom’s large and loving families, and it’s the recipe for a perfect wedding day!
If you want beautiful getting ready photos, take a tip from Katy. She rented a room at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown, which included separate bedroom and living areas! This allowed all the girls to store their stuff in one room, and left the other nice and clean! Also this giant window let in amazing light!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. These Keds x Kate Spade are the new mainstay in wedding shoes! Super comfy and adorable, you’ll be able to dance the night away!
Adding little personal touches throughout your day will really help to make it memorable. This garter was worn by all the girls in Bobby’s family!
We did a first look with Katy’s dad and it was too sweet!!
Meanwhile, Bobby decided to forgo his getting ready shots to hang out with his guys at the New Holland Knickerbocker!
The only thing better than the groom crying is the dads crying 🙂
Look how excited Bobby is!!
The black dresses and tuxes really made the wedding party look ultra classy!
They wanted to get some of downtown in their pictures, so we stopped outside the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.
I loved the little fur jackets all the ladies had to keep warm!
Everyone was such troopers in the wind and snow, and Katy looked absolutely stunning, but after about 15 minutes, we decided to go on to plan B!
One of Katy’s bridesmaids owns this amazing coffee shop downtown, so it was the perfect place to warm up for a bit!
If you’re ever downtown and need a cozy place to sit and get some delicious drinks, check out Roots Brew Shop! The owner Mallory is the sweetest!
One final stop before the party, Bobby & Katy absolutely had to stop at Founders Brewing!
The rooftop of Mckay Tower was the perfect spot for portraits as well!
By the time we hit the reception, they were ready to party!!
Never quite seen a cake cutting done like this before, but I’m down!
During the reception Katy’s Chi Omega sisters (including her grandma!) surrounded her in a circle and sang to her! It was so sweet!
When I met with Katy & Bobby, we weren’t able to meet up for an engagement session because they lived out of state, so they opted for an extra hour of coverage at their reception. DJ Casey Rusch kept the dance floor jam-packed the entire night. It was truly an unforgettable party!
