I am SO excited to share this Holcomb Gardens Indianapolis engagement session on the blog because that means Dan and Hannah are getting married!!!
My husband grew up in Indianapolis, so it’s basically my second home. We visit friends there quite frequently, so I’ve gotten to know Dan through mutual friends over the years. When that friend told me Dan proposed, I said “you HAVE to tell him to call me…I’m shooting that wedding.” Dan originally contacted me to ask for help looking for a photographer in Indianapolis, not knowing just how excited I was for him, so I told him HECK NO I wouldn’t help find someone else! Luckily him and Hannah were both ok with that 🙂 I was heading down Memorial Day weekend anyway, so we thought it was the perfect time to squeeze in an engagement session for them!
They chose the GORGEOUS Holcomb Gardens, located on Butler University’s campus, and now I am forever jealous I can’t shoot here every weekend. On top of that, the weather was perfect, and Dan and Hannah are all kinds of adorable! If these photos are any indication of how the wedding will go, I can’t wait!! (P.S. If you or anyone you know is planning an Indianapolis wedding – I don’t charge extra for traveling there!)
When you start right off the bat with smiles like these…I know I’m in for a great session!!
At the top of a huge flight of stairs was this stunning bell tower!
There was actually a beautiful little waterfall juuuuuust behind them here – but the obvious photo is not always the best one!
The sun doesn’t always shine so perfectly, but when it does….????
I think there was an Office reference made at this point, but I can’t remember exactly what it was. Also there were a group of people clearly having a meeting of the Finer Things Club right behind me haha!
Did I have them sit in this random spot just so I could get some purple in the foreground? Yes. Did Dan stand up to find himself covered in ants? Also yes. (My bad, guys!)
If you have ever had a session with me or even seen me photographing someone else, you’ve heard me say “ok, last one!” probably about 1000 times. I told them I was done shooting. Really I was. But when we walked back to our cars and I saw these incredible flowering bushes on the other side of the parking lot? How could I resist!
Aaaaand then I saw this super cool wall and thought they should just stand there and act like the super cool kids they are. Also I was totally struck by Hannah’s face in this one – she is STUNNING.
Yaayyy!! Thanks for checking out Dan and Hannah’s Holcomb Gardens Indianapolis engagement session! Stay tuned on Facebook and Instagram for their wedding sneak peek!
