2020 rolls on with another wedding this weekend! Maggie and Jake are from Kalamazoo so this West Lake Nature Preserve engagement session was perfect for them! It was a rainy day so we weren’t sure how the weather would hold out, but the clouds parted and we decided to give it a go! The only downside was we were basically shooting in a swamp in the entire time haha! But Maggie and Jake still smiled and laughed even though our feet were absolutely soaked! They did a great job of hiding the fact that we took home half the water in our shoes! I can’t wait to celebrate with them this weekend at their wedding on Western Michigan University’s campus!
The first – and probably only – part of the session we were able to stay dry for!
How could I resist putting them in this gorgeous wooded area with those purple flowers?? And it perfectly complimented Maggie’s floral dress!
Kind of dreamy, isn’t it?! *swoon*
This is the best way to make sure the guy has a little fun haha…I always warn them it’s an hour of making out with your hot fiancé!
I love making my couples practice their first dance….even if it’s in the middle of the woods 🙂
Love it when the woods hide random finds like this teepee!
We finally got through the woods to the lake and the boardwalk!
Surprise! The walkway was actually floating on the water!!
You can’t tell because they look so sweet, but our feet were definitely submerged in swamp water at this point!
We made it through to the main part of the lake just as the sun was setting!
