Today’s blog post features Sarah & Adam’s intimate gothic Grand Rapids wedding – and it does not disappoint! Sarah didn’t have a concrete plan for her wedding day, so when I was taking senior portraits for one of her children around downtown, we came up with some options! It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve done it, but with her only having about 10 guests at the ceremony, I suggested somewhat of a “guerilla wedding”. The plan was basically, we meet up downtown, wander for some portraits, and find an area to have a quick ceremony, then head to the reception! Take a look at how we did!
Sarah & Adam showed up with their attire ON POINT.
They had each of their children join for some portraits as well! They nailed the vibe ✨
Just because you’re going for a dark and gothic mood, doesn’t mean we can’t laugh a little!
When you’ve got a dress like that, you have to show it off!
After the portraits, it’s ceremony time!
We chose the lawn next to the Blue Bridge for the quick ceremony, and it had the perfect views!
I always love the “We did it!” right after!
We had time for just a few more portraits!
Since it was Art Prize, there were a few installations on the bridge, and this large black box was absolutely meant to be included!!
This was the inside of the black box, and seriously…could it not have been any more perfect for their theme?!
They then had a reception with more friends and family at the Rickhouse at Long Road Distillers!
When Sarah was planning the decor for the reception space, it was full of dark flowers, candles, and skulls! She said that high-school-her would be so jealous haha!
Small and simple doesn’t have to be boring – it was one heck of a party!
Thanks for checking out Sarah & Adam’s intimate gothic Grand Rapids wedding! I really love it when my couples shake off tradition and make a day that’s truly about THEM!
